The issuance of the New Type 2 Silver Eagle is the biggest event in coin collecting since 1985 when the original Silver Eagle was signed into law by President Reagan.
This unique two-piece collection features a Type 1 coin with the original heraldic eagle reverse design by John Mercanti, and a Type 2 coin with the new design by Emily S. Damstra, depicting an eagle carrying an oak branch as it prepares to land in a nest. These are Signature Series coins, both coins have been signed by Edmund C. Moy, 38th Director of the United States Mint who oversaw the American Silver Eagle program. Â Â

Moy, the 38th Director of the U.S. Mint, and David J Ryder, 39th Director of the U.S. Mint are individually autographing labels for Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®), under an exclusive arrangement. Moy served from 2006 to 2011, and Ryder served as both 34th and 39th 1992 to 1993 and returned to the position from 2018-2021. Both men were named in Coin World’s Most Influential People (1960-2020).
