2021 W Silver Eagle Type 1 & Type 2 Advance Release NGC PF70 – Moy Signatures

 

 
The issuance of the New Type 2 Silver Eagle is the biggest event in coin collecting since 1985 when the original Silver Eagle was signed into law by President Reagan.
This unique two-piece collection features a Type 1 coin with the original heraldic eagle reverse design by John Mercanti, and a Type 2 coin with the new design by Emily S. Damstra, depicting an eagle carrying an oak branch as it prepares to land in a nest. These are Signature Series coins, both coins have been signed by Edmund C. Moy, 38th Director of the United States Mint who oversaw the American Silver Eagle program.

Edmund C. Moy, the 38th Director of the U.S. Mint, and David J Ryder, 39th Director of the U.S. Mint are individually autographing labels for Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®), under an exclusive arrangement. Moy served from 2006 to 2011, and Ryder served as both 34th and 39th 1992 to 1993 and returned to the position from 2018-2021. Both men were named in Coin World’s Most Influential People (1960-2020). Condition

Coins are certified on a 70-point basis, with 70 being absolute perfection. Both coins in this set are identified as “Advance Release”, the first and only time this special designation has ever appeared on a Type 1 Silver Eagle and the first time it has appeared on a Type 2 Silver Eagle. Both coins are signed by Edmund C. Moy, 38th director of the U.S. Mint and one of the best-known names in the popular and fast-growing Signature Series Rare Coin Market.
